BREMERTON – The Bremerton School District honored 17 employees, mostly paraeducators and clerical workers, for their years of service within the district at the March 5 school board meeting.

The honors, given annually, followed Gov. Jay Inslee proclaiming March 9-13 as Classified Employees Week.

Each long-time employee was given a pin marking their many years of service to the district.

Ten-year pin: Edward Angelbeck, Roxanne Balogh, Suzanne Compton, Sara Dargan, Andrea Foster, Teresa Heffner and Karyn Sandstrom all started at the Bremerton School district before YouTube launched.

Fifteen-year pin: Terri Beliveau, Kathy Gregory, Susan Dickinson, Donna Huff and Debora Sanchez began their careers in Bremerton before the first episode of “Family Guy” aired.

Twenty-year pin: Evelyn Bartrug and Loretta Robinett started before DVDs were invented.

Twenty-five-year pin: Tamy Deam, Terese Edmonds and Nancy Frender have been with the district longer than Taylor Swift has been alive.

“These jobs we have in education would not happen without you folks,” said Superintendent Aaron Leavell. “You do it because you love your community and you love these kids.”
