POULSBO ARTS FESTIVAL: The 22nd anniversary of the festival formerly known as Arts by the Bay, commences from 1-6 p.m. Aug. 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 16, with local art and live music all along the Poulsbo Waterfront. Info: www.cafnw.org.

MARITIME MUSIC FESTIVAL: The Port Gamble Maritime Music Festival noon to 5 p.m. on August 15 from will present live performances by five musical acts, celebrating the Northwest?s connection to the water. Musicians include the piratical figure of Tugboat Bromberg, former Able Seaman Wendy Joseph, the all-women chantey group Broadside, and The Whateverly Brothers, a trio featuring three-part harmonies and lively instrumentation. CEDAR COVE DAYS: Fans of author Debbie Macomber are expected to flock to Port Orchard en masse Aug. 26-30 for Cedar Cove Days. The festival is a celebration of literature and Cedar Cove, a town based on Port Orchard that is featured in some of Macomber’s novels. Info: www.cedarcoveassociation.com.

Bainbridge Island resident Gregory Glynn has created an installation for the Ferry Terminal Walkway using sound, photography and text.

‘CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF:” The Jewel Box Theatre in Poulsbo presents Tennessee Williams’ classic play “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” directed by Laurel Watt. RACE FOR LITERACY: The Literacy Council of Kitsap is hosting the Race for Literacy, with a one-mile and 5k foot race, at 9 a.m. Aug. 15. The races begin and end at View Ridge Elementary School. THE REV. MICHAEL DOWD: Will present Evoluntion and the Global Integrity Crisis from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Sound Spirit at Suquamish UCC Church, 18732 Division St., Suquamish. CHIEF SEATTLE DAYS: The Suquamish Tribe annually sponsors Chief Seattle Days in downtown Suquamish on the third full weekend of August.This year the festivities will be from Aug. 14-16. The tribe honors its famous leader with a princess contest and teen dance on Friday night, a memorial service at his grave in the Suquamish Tribal Cemetery on Saturday morning, and Indian canoe races, salmon bake and pow-wow on Saturday and Sunday.
