HANSVILLE — Music teacher Ken Moses died April 10. He was 81.

Born Oct. 7, 1931, grew up in Seattle, summered in Kingston and Whidbey Island. Studied piano with Alexander Mlynarski, Sigismond Stojowsky, Berthe Poncy Jacobson at University of Washington. Taught for 60 years in north Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Lake Forest Park and Bothell. Member of Kitsap Music Teachers’ Association and Seattle Music Teachers’ Association.

After he built a house with large studio in Hansville, he established studios in Lynnwood and Bothell at Mills Music and was teaching third-generation students. Besides music, he taught life lessons in self discipline, joy in accomplishment, and value of hard work.

Wrote and printed many teaching materials and edited out-of-print compositions for re-publication; in last several years, he wrote and printed “The Language of Tone.”

A man of great faith. Loved the Lutheran Church and collected all of Luther’s works.

Survived by his wife of 58 years; son, Scott and his wife, Sheila; brothers, Wayne and his wife AJ, Bob, Bill and his wife Susan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
