No injures in Bremerton arson

BREMERTON — No one was hurt, but two houses were destroyed in an arson fire Monday night on McKenzie Avenue.

Al Duke, Bremerton Fire Department chief, said a 911 call was placed at 10:37 p.m. Sept. 19 about a house fire on McKenzie Avenue in Bremerton.

Duke said when the first unit arrived at 10:42 p.m., the smaller house at the back of the property was fully involved and extending into the main house.

“They got it knocked down fairly quickly,” Duke said.

“Both the back house and the front house are both totally destroyed,” he added. “The front house didn’t have any sheet rock or anything on the second floor, so it burned pretty good through the second floor of the house.”

Duke said the cause of the fire was arson, and the investigators are already “talking to individuals” about it.

This was not the first fire at the property, either. Duke said there was a small fire, also judged to be arson, on the same property Friday, Sept. 16.

Duke said no more information can be released as of early Sept. 21, since the investigation was ongoing.
