KINGSTON — The owners of Kingston Adventures could pay more than $10,000 in costs and attorney fees for the lawsuit to evict them from the Port of Kingston’s small watercraft dock.

Kitsap County Superior Court ruled in favor of the port in its lawsuit to evict Beth and Rob Brewster from eight storage units, Aug. 1.

The Brewsters, however, are appealing the decision.

When the ruling was made Aug. 1, two of the three fees were reserved, because more fees had incurred. The only fee the judge ordered was the principal judgment of $451.36, which was for unpaid rent of the storage units.

An amended cost bill and second amended attorney fees, however, add $11,545.33 to the total, according to court documents filed Aug. 14, dated Aug. 13. The cost bill totals $716.58. Attorney fees are $10,828.75, according to information submitted to the court by Carrie Eastman, the port’s attorney.

But the decision in favor of the port is being appealed. An appeal was filed Aug. 5 to the Court of Appeals. An amended appeal was filed Aug. 12.

Court dates for appellate court were set for Aug. 21 and Aug. 27.
