Field of candidates grows: 46 file for 28 offices

Candidate filing week opened May 12, and 46 candidates had filed as candidates for 28 elected offices on the ballot by the end of May 14. Among the candidates to file May 14: North Kitsap School Board member Scott Henden, who is challenging Sherry Appleton for 23rd District position 1 in the state House of Representatives.

PORT ORCHARD — Candidate filing week opened May 12, and 46 candidates had filed as candidates for 28 elected offices on the ballot by the end of May 14.

Among the candidates to file May 14: North Kitsap School Board member Scott Henden, who is challenging Sherry Appleton for 23rd District position 1 in the state House of Representatives.

The primary election is Aug. 5. The top two finishers in each contested race will advance to the Nov. 4 general election.
