KINGSTON — Kitsap County Department of Community Development is sponsoring a short course on local planning tomorrow night in Kingston.
The Planning Association of Washington and the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development will host the three-hour presentation from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the North Kitsap Fire & Rescue headquarters, located at 26642 Miller Bay Road.
The short course has been presented throughout Washington for 30 years. Speakers will discuss key principles of the state Growth Management Act and how it affects North Kitsap communities. Topics slated for discussion include: the legal basis of planning in Washington state presented by Scott Missall, an attorney for Short Cressman & Burgess, comprehensive planning basics by Paul Rogerson, Sumner City director of community development and plan implementation and the role of the planning commission by David Osaki, deputy director of community development for the city of Lynwood.
