General Election: Editorial board got it wrong

We are shocked at the cavalier endorsements issued by your newspaper. To override a democratic (4-3) vote and endorse a candidate against the majority of your editorial board amazes us and puts into doubt your entire editorial process. While we agree with your endorsement of Christine Rolfes, it draws into question the validity of the other endorsements as well made by your editorial board.

We agree with your statement that Sherry Appleton has admirably and honorably served Kitsap County and she should be returned to Olympia to continue working for us. Especially in this critical time, inexperience is a huge liability.

Washington State Ferries is not the sole issue facing Kitsap County, although Sherry successfully fought against the ferry ticket “lockout” period, enabling multiple cars to use the same monthly pass and secured funding for the Kingston Passenger Only Ferry. Sherry also secured the necessary funding to keep the Poulsbo Marine Science Center open, secured capital funding for Olympic College projects and helped regulate Pay Day Lenders.

Please join us in re-electing Representative Sherry Appleton: a strong and experienced voice for our 23rd Legislative District.
