Kingston boys defeat Chimacum

For only the second time in three seasons, the Kingston boys basketball team earned a win Thursday, defeating Chimacum 71-51.

Zane Ravenholt led the Buccaneers with 24 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

The Bucs host Port Townsend tonight at 7 p.m.

Kingston girls fall to River Ridge

The Kingston High School girls basketball team began the 2009-10 season with a 69-38 loss to River Ridge Thursday.

The game was a rematch of the first round of last year’s state playoffs, which Kingston won, 55-54.

Sophia Baetz led the Bucs with 17 points and six rebounds. Laura Wicklein added 11 points and six rebounds.

Kingston will travel to Port Townsend to take on the Redskins tonight at 7 p.m.

North Kitsap boys lose to Bainbridge

The North Kitsap High School boys basketball team fell to Bainbridge High, 55-42, Wednesday.

The Vikings take on Olympic High tonight at 7 p.m. at home.

SWIMMING

North Kitsap swimmers qualify for districts

North Kitsap High School swimmers Josh Despard and Tyler Rencher qualified for the district swim meet at a Thursday meet in Sequim.

Despard qualified in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 23.55 seconds. Rencher qualified in the 100-yard butterfly, with a time of 1 minute, 2.25 seconds.

North Kitsap defeated Sequim, 94-75.

The West Central District III meet takes place Feb. 12-13 at Hazen High School in Renton.

Kingston swimmers defeat Bremerton

The Kingston High School boys swim team defeated Bremerton, 98-63, Thursday.

The boys travel to Sequim Dec. 8 to face the Wolves.
