POULSBO — The North Kitsap and Kingston varsity soccer teams lost their shots at the State tournament May 12.

The Vikings lost 1-0 to White River in overtime.

The Buccaneers lost 3-1 to Interlake.

The games, held at the North Kitsap High School Stadium, were the first either team had played in the postseason. The Bucs and Vikes were seeded straight into the West Central District III tournament. The games were loser out.

“They were just not with it today for some reason,” Viking coach Chris May said.

The Vikings ended their season 8-0 in league play, with 24 points. Undefeated, the Vikes took the Olympic League title

The Bucs finished third in the league play, second among 2A schools. They were 5-1-2, with 16 points.

Coach Craig Smith said the Bucs played with Interlake early, but things faltered.

“Interlake was a superior team,” Smith said.

Smith said the Bucs, aside from the single goal, were shut down. After coaching the game Saturday afternoon, Smith said Interlake deserves to go to State.

Both Interlake and White River are headed to State. Interlake will take the fifth seed. White River the second seed.
