Sex trafficking topic of discussion at forum

The topic of juvenile sex trafficking is slated for a community discussion on Nov. 4, 4:30-8 p.m. at the WEA Olympic Uniserve Office, located at 26297 Twelve Trees Lane, Poulsbo.

POULSBO — The topic of juvenile sex trafficking is slated for a community discussion on Nov. 4, 4:30-8 p.m. at the WEA Olympic Uniserve Office, located at 26297 Twelve Trees Lane, Poulsbo.

Hosted at the offices of the Washington Education Association, the seminar is geared for educators, parents, social/mental health workers,  pastors and interested residents.

The seminar will provide an awareness of the issue and information about its educational and psychological effects on children.

The discussion will cover recruitment tactics and how to intervene.

Speakers include Sandy Hill of Freedom13.org, and Alysa Kelsey of Not For Sale Washington. Both speakers are trainers with Shared Hope International, a worldwide organization that combats sex trafficking.

Freedom13.org works with religious organizations to battle child trafficking, and is named after the average of a child trafficked into the sex trade; age 13.

Not For Sale Washington is the local chapter of a national effort to raise awareness of human trafficking.
