SUNDAY

PICNIC IN THE PARK: Picnic in the Park, sponsored by the Greater Hansville Community Center, has added a Show N’ Shine Car Show. The car show is expected to bring in between 70 and 100 cars. The picnic will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 25, and will feature three bands. The U.S. Navy Northwest Band will play from approximately noon to 1 p.m., the Hometown Band will play from 2-3 p.m and the Good Enough Band will perform from 3-4 p.m. There will be clowns and games for the kids. Picnic food will be available including hotdogs, soft drinks and fresh pies, whole or by the slice.

LAP BAND SUPPORT GROUP: Do you have a lap band or are you thinking of getting one? FOLK DANCE PROGRAM: Well-known Norwegian dance instructor Karin Brennesvik and her daughter Arnhild will perform intricate country dances from Telemark and Neumedal, Norway, at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at the Poulsbo Sons of Norway, 18891 Front St., Poulsbo. Tom Lovli and his son, Vette also are in the group. The program will be followed by a gammaldans. There will be two workshops at 3:30 p.m.: one for the halling and one for the Bygedans. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: The Poulsbo Police Department is hosting National Night Out, an anti-crime event for Poulsbo residents from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at the Waterfront Park/Anderson Parkway. This family event gives Poulsbo residents a chance to meet Poulsbo police officers and learn about safety, crime prevention and neighborhood watch programs. Refreshments will be provided, along with games and giveaways. There will be police cars and police boats on display. ROCK FEST: A youth concert, Rock Fest, featuring The New Divide, Friday at the Lake, Quiet by Ten, Talk Jonny and others will be from noon to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Calvary Chapel Poulsbo, 23300 Stottlemeyer Road NE. Admission is $10 all day and $7 after 5 p.m.

GOLF TOURNAMENT: Peninsula Prostate Institute is hosting a golf tournament to raise awareness of prostate cancer at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 25, at White Horse Golf Club, 22795 Three Lions Place, Kingston. Proceeds will benefit Cancer Lifeline’s Prostate Cancer Fund. Cost includes 18 holes of golf, a polo shirt, prizes, lunch and a keynote speaker. Info: (360) 697-8022.

HANDS-ON GARDENING FOR KIDS: From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Monday through Aug. 16, crafts and hands-on gardening experiences are offered for parents and children at the Youth Garden at Frank Raab Park in Poulsbo. Donations are welcome.

FREE FITNESS CLASS: Kitsap Aikido is offering a free drop-in fitness class to the public from 6-6:45 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 650 NW Bovela Lane No. 5 in Poulsbo. ALZHEIMER’S CAREGIVERS’ SUPPORT GROUP: Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with dementia.
