Kingston wins the 2A state title in the 200-yard medley relay, Feb. 20 at the King County Aquatics Center. Timothy Gallagher finishes 1 second from state title in 100-yard backstroke

FEDERAL WAY — Kingston won the 2A state title in the 200-yard medley relay, Feb. 20 at the King County Aquatics Center.

Relay team member Timothy Gallagher went on to narrowly miss — by 1 second — the state title in the 100-yard backstroke. Kingston also placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Here’s a recap, event by event.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Gallagher, Ethan Fox, Bryce Hoffer and Hunter Parini finished the relay in 1:43.08, .24 second ahead of Sehome. Kingston bettered its prelim time of 1:43.22.

North Kitsap finished sixth with a time of 1:45.68. Jeremiah Johnston, Nathan Ramey, Matt Smith and Thor Breitbarth swam for North.

North Kitsap’s Johnston finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle, 1:56.63.

In the 200-yard IM, Kingston’s Fox finished fourth with a time of 2:00.40. Gallagher finished sixth, 2:01.39. Nolan Platz of Kingston finished 11th, 2:06.38.

In the 50-yard freestyle, North Kitsap’s Breitbarth finished eighth, 23.12; Kingston’s Quincy Walker tied for 10th, 23.33; Parini finished 13th, 23.58.

Johnston finished 13th in the 100-yard butterfly, 57.77, bettering his prelim time of 58.60.

Ramey finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.98, shaving seven seconds off of his prelim time.

Kingston’s Hoffer, Walker, George Dalton, and Parini finished 11TH in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a time of 1:36.95. North Kitsap finished 13th; Matt Smith, Brandon Anderson, Alex Chow and Matt Wooldridge posted a time of 1:38.26.

Gallagher placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 53.54 – 1 second behind first-place finisher James Buchanan of Lindbergh.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Kingston finished third with a time of 3:24.06. Gallagher, Hoffer, Fox and Walker swam for Kingston.

North Kitsap finished ninth with a time of 3:29.88. Breitbarth, Johnston, Wooldridge, and Ramey swam for North.
