Lying by omission is still lying

Lying by overstatement and omission is still frowned upon by me and most folks I know.

In his comic strip “Doonesbury,” Garry Trudeau joins Henry Carnes in his effort to inform “a voting public so uninformed that they don’t even recognize lies when they hear them.”

Trudeau wrote that Trump has been quoted as saying, “No one is more conservative, stronger on the Second Amendment, respects women more, knows more about taxes, and is more successful than me.  Nobody knows banking better, knows more about debt, knows the system better, knows politicians better, reads the Bible more, and is bigger or better at the military.  Nobody builds better walls, knows more about trade, is more against Obamacare, is more pro-Israel, is better on humility.  I’m the least racist person you’ll ever meet.”

Henry cites lies by past Presidents and present Presidential candidates.  He singles out Democrats Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton, but doesn’t mention Republican Donald Trump’s whoppers or Richard Nixon’s infamous lie, “I’m not a crook.”  I remain unconvinced that Henry’s claim to be one of the informed is the whole truth.  Even a comic strip reader can see Trump’s claims to be outrageous lies.

Lying by overstatement and omission is still frowned upon by me and most folks I know.
