SILVERDALE — After a dominating, the Klahowya Eagles were positioned to earn the top seed to Districts. The North Kitsap Vikings, however, took that away Wednesday evening.

The Vikings won in a shootout at Silverdale Stadium after a game that went into overtime 0-0.

North Kitsap coach Chris May said he was, for whatever reason, stressed during the game. But the girls were calm.

“All the credit goes to the girls,” May said. Despite the downpour the team played in, “They really battled.”

The Vikings earned the No. 1 seed to Districts and face White River at 2 p.m. at Silverdale Stadium on Nov. 3.

The Eagles face Renton at noon at the Stadium.

To hold the Eagles to a 0-0 game, May said the team shifted players forward, in order to gain more control of the midfield. May said players who have been quiet on the field, so to speak, stepped up and played well. The team hit the crossbar a few times.

The last time the Vikings played the Eagles they lost 4-0 and the Vikings were barely able to make it into their opponents territory.

Though they took the top seed to Districts, May said White River may be a more difficult opponent than Renton. Typically, a top seed means an easier opponent, at least on paper.
