Comedian Kermet Apio seems like a real nice guy.

One of those guys who apologizes for everything, hasn’t been in a fight since seventh grade, a guy who uses humor to mask his insecurity. But if someone tries to hijack the plane he’s on with nail clippers, “it is go-time,” he says.

Apio brings his nice-guy impersonation and good clean fun back to Kitsap for a 9 p.m. show Feb. 16 at the Cloverleaf, 1240 Hollis St. in Bremerton. And this time the Slaughter County Roller Vixens will have his back.

It’s a benefit for the Kitsap County roller derby league, tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling (360) 365-2496.

Apio has been here several times before, including two performances at the annual Laugh for Life, a benefit show for the Relay for Life. He’s originally from Hawaii but came to Seattle for college, where he subsequently found a knack for stand-up comedy at Seattle Comedy Underground open mic night. He kissed benefits and health insurance behind to hit the road as a traveling funnyman.

He speaks about his childhood a lot in his act, relating everything from the joys of being named Kermet in grade school, to Pong, Space Invaders and Magnum P.I.

Perhaps that is why this is a 21+ show.
