Suspicious package reported at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton

A suspicious package was discovered at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton at approximately 8:45 a.m., Wednesday. Emergency responders and Explosive Ordnance Disposal were still on the scene at 11:45 a.m. and a security perimeter has been established, public affairs officer Tom Danaher reported.

BREMERTON — A suspicious package was discovered at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton at approximately 8:45 a.m., Wednesday.

Emergency responders and Explosive Ordnance Disposal were still on the scene at 11:45 a.m. and a security perimeter has been established, public affairs officer Tom Danaher reported. “Security procedures have been initiated to ensure the safe resolution of this situation,” he wrote in a press release. He declined to comment further.

Department of Defense policy precludes issuing any statement regarding ongoing security measures or posture, Danaher’s press release stated.

Vehicle traffic to PSNS&IMF has been diverted to the Bremerton Gate.
