LITTLE BOSTON — Two children and one adult were injured in rear-end collision on Little Boston Road last week.

North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews went to the scene of a two-car collision on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at Little Boston Road and S’Klallam Hill Lane. A 21-year-old woman was driving a Dodge Caravan eastbound with three children — a five-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy — when she stopped along the shoulder to pick someone up. All those in the car are from the Port Gamble S’Klallam area. The driver reportedly told law enforcement she had her hazard lights on.

The driver of the second car, a 55-year-old woman from Kingston, was driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck eastbound. She reportedly told sheriff deputies her car has defective dashlights, and she uses a flashlight to see the speedometer while driving in the dark. Sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson said the driver was looking at the speedometer while cresting the hill and crashed into the back of the Dodge. He said deputies noted no pre-impact tire marks on the road, meaning the driver did not hit the brakes.

Two of the children from the Dodge Caravan, the two-year-old boy and the five-year-old girl, were transported via paramedic to Harrison Medical Center for injuries to the abdomen. The driver of the truck was taken by aid car to Harrison for facial injuries and broken bones, according to Wilson.

The driver of the Dodge was ticketed for not having a vehicle operator’s license; the driver of the truck was cited for defective equipment.
