Since July 2009, the City of Poulsbo has been developing an update of its Shoreline Master Program, in compliance with Washington’s Shoreline Management Act. The Department of Ecology has set a target date of 2012 for completion of the update.

The City of Poulsbo’s official Draft Shoreline Master Program Update will be released on July 5. The draft will be subject to a six-month public review process, including public hearings to be held by the Planning Commission and City Council.  Comments from the public on the draft are being solicited at this time and will be accepted throughout the review period.

A public question-and-answer session on the draft will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers on Aug. 9, 5-6:30 p.m. prior to the initial Planning Commission workshop at 7 p.m. It is anticipated that the Planning Commission will make a recommendation on the draft by the end of October, followed by the City Council’s review in November and December. Adoption of the Shoreline Master Program and associated Comprehensive Plan amendments by the City Council is scheduled for February.
