KING COUNTY — Shifts in the classification for Kingco schools has given teams in the Olympic League new opponents.
Lake Washington and Sammamish high schools have both dropped to 2A.
Interlake moves back to the 3A Division.
The changes take effect with the start of the 2012-13 school year.
Though it will not be seen immediately, the changes could potentially beneficial to those teams in the Olympic League, including North Kitsap and Kingston high schools.
Interlake has proven itself in many sports, including cross country, where the girls took third in 2011 and boys tied for ninth. In football, Interlake defeated Franklin Pierce 49-41 in the state championships. Interlake’s volleyball team finished with a league record of 10-4 — the team lost twice to North Kitsap in Districts.
The changes to the 2A teams in Kingco followed shuffling of 4A schools.
