This past weekend as the wonderfully spring combination of sun and rain showered Kitsap, it signaled something even more important than increasingly longer days and nicer weather.
It marked the opening of the drive-in movie season.
Kitsap’s only drive-in, The Rodeo Drive In, located off of Highway 3 near Barney White Road in Port Orchard, is one of an estimated 500 of its kind remaining in the country. With three screens and a car capacity of more than 850, the Rodeo touts itself as the Northwest’s largest family owned drive in.
Stop by for a double feature and see for yourself, “the magic of movies under the stars,” as the Rodeo puts it.
They cracked open the season with “Horton Hears a Who,”/”Spiderwick Chronicles,” “10,000 B.C.”/”Shutter” and “Drillbit Taylor”/”Semi-Pro.”
