Appreciates teacher dedication

My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the teachers honored by DKG recently, and to all the unsung teachers in our community who strive, day in and day out, to teach our children and help them become productive members of society

My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the teachers honored by DKG recently, and to all the unsung teachers in our community who strive, day in and day out, to teach our children and help them become productive members of society (“These teachers are tops,” page A18, Feb. 24 Herald).

Teachers get an undue share of the blame for society’s problems, which is greatly undeserved, and not nearly enough credit for the incredibly difficult job they do. I’d like to see our state legislators come into the classroom for one day, just one day, and try to do what our teachers do every day.

I think they’d then understand why our schools need to be fully funded and they’d stop tinkering with things that only make teachers’ jobs more challenging.

Teachers are heroes, just like police officers and fire fighters.  Make a point of thanking a teacher every day.  They deserve it.
