Thank you for publishing Troy Barber’s thoughtful article calling for a popular vote on the issue of Poulsbo allowing the sale of marijuana (page A6, Aug. 14 Herald).
Of course, Poulsbo should allow the sale of marijuana. My father was an alcoholic and, of course, alcohol is widely available here in Poulsbo. I would have much preferred him to have used marijuana instead of alcohol. Marijuana is a much less damaging drug. He also smoked and died from that drug habit. No one dies from using marijuana.
I am a 72-year-old retired high school teacher, and I use Indica marijuana to help me sleep. I hate being high, but the Indica, used in a modest amount, does not make me high. It does help me sleep, and even my doctor agrees that it is safer than prescription sleep medications.
Come on, Poulsbo! Read the science, join the modern world and allow us to buy our marijuana locally.
