POULSBO — John R. Walsh III, 44, of Bremerton, is charged in Kitsap County Superior Court with two counts of second-degree possession of stolen property.
On Feb. 4, a clerk working at a gas station on Viking Avenue reported her wallet stolen. Identified on the surveillance video, Walsh distracted the clerk while a female accomplice grabbed the wallet, according to the report.
The two suspects were seen on Home Depot’s surveillance video using one of the victim’s checks to pay for $420 worth of goods.
A Poulsbo Police officer saw Walsh pulling out of a driveway on Pioneer Hill Road March 11; Walsh sped away from the officer, turned onto Waghorn Road and fled on foot.
Walsh was found at another residence March 13 and arrested. According to the report, Walsh admitted he was at the gas station but said he didn’t know the woman took the wallet. Walsh was also arrested for possessing stolen property from a burglary at North Kitsap Auto Rebuild on Viking Avenue Dec. 31.
Walsh was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $25,000 bail.
