Business class for veterans planned

The Kitsap County Veterans Assistance Program and Washington Community Alliance for Self Help (CASH) are co-sponsoring a special business development class for veterans and their spouses or domestic partners, including veterans currently collecting unemployment.

The once-a-week class will start in early May.

The course will cover: developing a business concept, defining and understanding a customer base, learning about money management and break even point; cash flow, pricing and financial statements; marketing and selling; and taxes, licenses and insurance.

A mandatory orientation will be at 6 p.m. May 5 at the Poulsbo Fire Station, 911 Liberty, Poulsbo.

Bureau to reward contributions to tourism

The Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau is accepting nominations in five categories to recognize significant contributions to the promotion of tourism on the Kitsap Peninsula. Nominations are due by May 18.

The awards will be presented at the KPVCB annual meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 5-7:30 PM at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Bremerton.

The bureau will use its annual meeting to welcome the 2010 tourist season on the Kitsap Peninsula. Tickets are $10 for members and $20 for guests and may be purchased online.
