POULSBO — Things were looking good for the North Kitsap Vikings varsity baseball team April 10 in the non-league game against the South Kitsap Wolves.
Until the seventh inning.
The Wolves, down 2-1, came back, scoring four runs to win 5-2.
The score was 0-0 through the first three innings. The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Wolves responded in the top of the fifth with one run.
Then, South Kitsap’s Michael Wood stepped onto the mound. Wood and the Wolves shut down the Vikings in the last three innings for the win; Wood struck out seven during his time on the mound.
Wood took the mound after John Johnston and Bryce Broome. Johnston allowed struck out three and allowed two hits. Broome struck out two, walked two, had two errors and allowed two runs.
Among the batters for the Wolves, Cody Wolfe earned three RBIs.
Vikings batters Matt Fisher and James DeMile both earned an RBI.
The non-league loss followed a 6-0 win over the Olympic Trojans.
North Kitsap’s Shane Crowell threw a no-hitter, striking out eight and walking two. Both Crowell and AJ Milyard earned two RBIs. Ben Tamm earned one RBI.
The Vikings were scheduled to play Port Townsend Thursday.
The Vikings host the Sequim Wolves April 17. Game is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
The Kingston Buccaneers (1-7), were scheduled to play North Mason Thursday. Kingston’s next game is April 15 at Sequim. Game starts at 4:15 p.m.
