West Sound Academy announces new head of school

West Sound Academy this week announced Joe Kennedy as its new Head of School.

Kennedy has 23 years of experience as a teacher and administrator.

He comes to WSA after eight years as head of the Riverstone International School in Boise, Idaho, and a headship at the Island School in Antigua.

KHS seniors host book fair

The Kingston High School seniors will host a book fair at the Silverdale Barnes and Noble all day Saturday, to raise funds to help make prom affordable for everyone.

Shoppers can contribute by simply mentioning at checkout that they would like to support KHS with their purchase.

This includes purchases made at the bookstore’s coffee shop.

The KHS library will also have a wish list available at the store for anyone who would like to purchase a book to be donated in their name.

NK vocalists bound for state

Several North Kitsap High School choir students will be going to the upcoming state tournament thanks to a strong showing at the regional competition Feb. 7 in Silverdale.

Soloists going to state include: Annie Herzog (mezzo-soprano) and Justin Williams (bass).

Alternate soloists are: Emily Cauter and Susan Coran (mezzo-soprano), Amanda Habner (soprano), Connor Delaney (bass) and Eric Frei (tenor).

Ensembles will include: the NK Quartet, the small women’s ensemble (Brittany Everett and Toria Messinger), the NK Jazz Choir Women and the NK Jazz Choir Men.
