POULSBO — Learn more about the North Kitsap Trails Association and the Kitsap Forest and Bay Project on Monday at a community presentation, with dessert and discussion following.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m., at Poulsbo City Hall, 200 NE Moe St.

The trails association is teaming up with several organizations to acquire 7,000 acres of Pope Resources land in North Kitsap, and preserve it for open space and public use.

The trails association was created by advocates of a trails network in North Kitsap. The group supports establishment of a Sound to Olympics Trail, a proposed paved shared-use path for walkers and cyclists of all abilities; and a North Kitsap water trail.

The Kitsap Forest & Bay Coalition will also meet Wednesday, 10 a.m. to noon, in the Poulsbo Fire Hall, 911 Liberty Road, Poulsbo.

The agenda includes: An update on grant applications, outreach, and funding options for acquisition of timberlands and uplands.

Suquamish Tribe Chairman Leonard Forsman will provide Suquamish’s perspectives on the Kitsap Forest and Bay Project.

The coalition’s next meeting will be June 27, 10 a.m. to noon, in the Poulsbo Fire Hall.
