The Kingston light project is officially behind schedule. According to North Kitsap School District Spokeswoman Chris Case, the contractors are onsite this week installing lights on the Kingston High practice fields.
The lights were intended to be operational by Sept. 23, but because the contractor is behind schedule, the lights are now expected to be operating sometime in mid-October. Once the lights are functional, that opens the doors for Kingston High to play football games at their school rather than traveling to the North Kitsap Stadium at North Kitsap High.
Some caveats apply to Kingston playing at home, Case said in an email this morning.
If the varsity games are expected to draw a crowd larger than Kingston’s parking and facilities can accommodate, the game will be played at North Kitsap Stadium. Varsity football games will be reviewed on a game-by-game basis to be sure the logistics will work, she said.
