Sports updates for March 19, 2010

SOCCER

Kingston starts 2-0

The Kingston High boys soccer team won its first two games of the 2010 season this week. The Buccaneers defeated Bremerton High Wednesday, 1-0. Brian Bain scored the lone goal in the 67th minute.

The Bucs hosted Eatonville Thursday and won, 8-0. Riley Anderson had a hat trick and two assists in the win.

“I’m impressed,” Kingston coach Craig Smith said of his team. “They’re evolving.”

The Bucs travel to Steilacoom Saturday to face the Sentinels. Play begins at 4 p.m.

North defeats White River, 1-0

The North Kitsap High boys soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 win at White River Thursday. Alex Olson had the goal, with the assist coming from Marco Lopez.

BASEBALL

Kingston tops Shelton in baseball opener

The Kingston High baseball team won its season opener Wednesday against Shelton High, 8-6. Nick Torento got the win for the Buccaneers and went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kingston’s Max Sagdahl also went 2-for-4 and had two RBI. Kingston plays its next game at 4 p.m. Monday at Bremerton High.

North Kitsap girls drop tennis opener to Gig Harbor, 4-3

LACROSSE

North Kitsap boys fall to Klahowya in lacrosse opener

The North Kitsap boys lacrosse team lost its season opener Thursday to Klahowya, 15-4. Caleb Hiller led Klahowya with four goals. Jake Icard had two goals and goaltender Chazz Zacharof had 14 saves for North.
