POULSBO — After a series of budget discussions it was expected, but on Jan. 7, the Poulsbo City Council made it official: Poulsbo’s utility and cable taxes are going up.
The city’s utility tax will rise from 9 percent to 12 percent for the water and sewer utilities. A 6 percent tax on cable service in the city was also approved.
The new taxes will take effect and customers will see them reflected on their bills Feb. 1.
The cable tax is a form of revenue that the city has always had the option of using, but has not until now. It only applies to cable television service and does not apply to cable Internet service. The City Council approved the city’s 2015 budget in December, which took into account the raise in taxes.
