POULSBO — If Tuesday’s election results hold, former City Councilman Jim Henry and current Poulsbo City Councilwoman Kim Crowder will meet in the general election Nov. 3.

The two candidates lead Tom Foley in the initial count of returned primary election ballots for Poulsbo City Council position 7, with Henry squeaking past the incumbent with seven votes.

But it’s still a tight race.

In the first count, Henry leads with 34.43 percent, 460 votes, followed by Crowder with 33.91 percent, 453 votes.

Foley took third with 28.89 percent, 386 votes.

Tuesday’s count amounts to 1,336 returned ballots, according to results released Tuesday night on the Kitsap County Auditor’s Web site.

Exactly 5,114 ballots were issued for the vote, said Dolores Gilmore, county elections manager.

Countywide turnout isn’t expected to rise above 31 percent, Gilmore said.

Election officials will count the next batch of ballots Wednesday and post results by about 4 p.m.
