Letter was misunderstood

When one writes letters to the editor, it is a given that some readers will not understand the point of the letter. Such is the case with Cameron Peters and Tom DeBor, who wrote in criticism of my recent letter.

I did not imply that Greece’s socialist health care was the primary reason for its crisis. Socialism in all sectors in the cause of Greece’s problems. Health care is just one aspect, but it is the one facing our citizens today. Hence its emphasis.

The Congressional Budget Office does not contradict me. As recently as April 22, the CBO’s chief actuary made clear that the new health care bill will drive costs an additional $311 billion above projected costs and will adversely impact Medicare providers.

The point of the letter was the failure of Congressman Jay Inslee to understand that Greece’s problems were due to the very legislation that he works to pass in Congress. His failure to understand that threatens the United States with fiscal disaster.
