POULSBO — A motorist was flown to Harborview Medical Center after his GMC truck went off the overpass near the Keyport/Bangor exit of Highway 3, at about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23.

“He must have been heading northbound on Highway 3,” Washington State Patrol Trooper Michael Welander said. “From what we can tell, he went to cross too soon and sped down the guard rail and over the bridge.”

Three police cars and two firetrucks went to the scene. The gray GMC truck had  Alaska license plates. The truck’s front end was badly damaged.

“We have no idea if the driver will be OK, but he is being flown to Harborview now,” Welander said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
