Two in custody for North End burglaries and firearms offenses

KINGSTON — Authorities have arrested a pair of brothers suspected in a string of recent burglaries in North Kitsap. Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives developed probable cause for arrest within six hours, reacting quickly to apprehend two Port Hadlock men, ages 23 and 29, on a variety of burglary, firearms and trafficking offenses. The suspects are currently being held on bail, and will appear in court this afternoon, according to a KCSO statement.

The men are suspected of three burglaries, one last month on Ponderosa Boulevard in Hansville and two, one as recently as Monday, on Jefferson Point Road in Kingston.

Some 40 firearms, many of them antique, along with jewelry, cash, a knife collection and personal identifying paperwork were taken. The majority of the firearms were part of a Civil War era firearms collection.

Detectives developed probable cause when they discovered one of the suspects, a former landscaping employee who had worked on the burglarized properties, was attempting to sell stolen firearms. Police went undercover to make a purchase from the man.

Both suspects were taken into custody at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salsbury Point County Park, just north of the Hood Canal Bridge.
