POULSBO — Kelsey Scharnhorst of Poulsbo will receive her master’s degree in chemistry from University of California, Los Angeles, in June. She is now working on her PhD in chemistry.

Scharnhorst, 23, is the daughter of Rita Evans and Dale Scharnhorst. She graduated from North Kitsap High School and Olympic College through Running Start, and earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Western Washington University. In her spare time, she is a rock climber.
