The Global Bean showcases five-string soloist Friday

Pianoman Drew Williams will be on the keys Saturday at the coffee-centric, music hangout in Silverdale.

Local bassist extraordinaire Kimberly Lynn played professionally for many years, traveling and picking across the country with different bands.

She got burned out on the touring regimen, slowed down and even put down the bass, but some years later (lucky for us) Lynn started playing again. She tried out a few new bands, but ultimately decided that what she wanted to play was the music that made her feel good, rather than that which might move her career ahead.

So she went solo.

Just her, her five string bass, a loop station and sometimes a drum machine, she jams, bringing a sassy, funky, unique style of low-end-centric jazz to local pubs and coffee shops since January 2007. (See for yourself Youtubing “Kimberly Lynn” on youtube.com).

One of her regular jam sessions is at The Global Bean Trading Company, a relatively new coffee shop/music venue/hangout located off Myhre Road in Silverdale.

The Global Bean hosts easy-listening type of tunes — jazz, funk, folk, bluegrass, strings and more — every weekend in addition to middle of the week jam sessions and other special events.

This weekend Lynn will jam Friday while another talented Kitsap soloist — pianoman Drew Williams — will be slinging jazz standards Saturday.

Both shows start at 8 p.m., all ages, no cover at the Global Bean, 2021 NW Myhre Road, Ste. 101. WU
