What’s Up For First Friday | Art Walks in Bremerton and Bainbridge

‘Streets and Roads’ at BAC

Traveling from inner-city highways and byways to wide open country lanes, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts unleashes its artists imaginations on the brick and mortar of our transportation system this month.

Getting around by means of everything from bicycle to Amtrak to pickup truck and beyond, more than a dozen artists weigh in on one of the most influential institutions of our society. The show will hang through the month at BAC, 151 Winslow Way on Bainbridge, while a reception for the artists is slated for 5-8 p.m. tonight for First Friday.

Then on March 21, Barbara Wilson, one of the artists in the show, will be painting in the gallery, displaying her deft work with perception from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — free for passersby.

ALSO CHECK OUT: Whidbey Islanders Marty Rogers and E.L. Jorgensen at the Roby King Galleries, 176 Winslow Way; The Island Gallery, 100 Madison Ave.; A is for Artists Gallery at 123 Bjune St.; Blackbird Bakery and other Winslow businesses.

Graffiti on the wall at the AFU

The Artists for Freedom and Unity welcome the underground, outdoor, often taboo art of graffiti into the gallery this month. The exhibit, which hangs through the month, will be feted with a hip-hop show featuring local rappers Scruff’s Mentality and Mal De Santo among others tonight, starting at 6 p.m., 318 N. Callow Ave.

ALSO CHECK OUT: Collective Visions Gallery, 331 Pacific Ave. and the Amy Burnett Gallery 296 Fourth St. downtown, along with other downtown, Charleston and Manette businesses.
