NK TENNIS KNOCKS DOWN LINCOLN,
LOSES TO FOSS
On Wednesday the Vikings traveled to Lincoln’s courts and won 4-1. The win evened North’s record to 4-4.
Bryana Bohl, a North Kitsap freshman, won while playing her first varsity singles match. NK sophomore, McKenna Elves, also won her first varsity match playing doubles with senior Stephanie Habner. The doubles team of Rose Bissonnette and Meghan O’hara joined the North Kitsap double bagel club defeating their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Steady senior Britt Seaberg and junior Darlene Dang also handily defeated their scrappy adversaries. Ida Cepulic put up a battle before losing to her seasoned opponent.

On Thursday the Vikings traveled to Foss and lost 3-2.
No. 1 singes Sara Yun defeated NK Megan Oost 6-3, 6-2; No. 2 singles Bryana Bohl defeated Elana Tursi of Foss 6-0, 6-4; No. 1 doubles Britt Seaberg, Darlene Dang defeated Erika Maska, Krishna Dennis of Foss 6-2, 6-1; No. 2 doubles Ticcia Melendez, Tasha Koteleskya defeated NK Stephanie Habner, Ida Cepulic 7-5, 6-3; No. 3 doubles Chanthy Chum, Chan Le defeated NK Meghan O’hara, Rose Bissonnette 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.
The Vikings return home on Tuesday to play Bainbridge Island at 3:30 p.m.
KHS SOCCER
On Tuesday Kingston beat Bremerton 3-2 in a game played at Buccaneer Field.
Bobby Catania scored first off an assist by Josh (JJ) Gilson in the 20th minute, Chance Pruiett added another in the 28th from a pass by Catania. Ten minutes later Francisco Garcia scored his first of two for Bremerton. Kingston’s John Troka scored on a penalty kick in the 58th minute when Brian Bain was taken down from behind near the right post and three minutes later Garcia got Bremerton’s last goal.
“It was a hard fought defensive battle for the last 19 minutes of play,” wrote coach Craig Smith in an e-mail. Kingston’s win on Tuesday and Port Townsend’s tie against Port Angeles put Kingston in slim first position for the 2A standings and tied with Olympic for first in the Olympic League.
Kingston beat three of the four 3A schools and now it’s back to playing the 2A schools a second time for post season positioning.
Today Kingston hosts Klahowya at 1:45.
On Tuesday the Bucs play Port Townsend. The game is at Buccaneer Field and starts at 5 p.m. The last time the two teams played it ended in a 1-1 tie.
NK FASTPITCH DEMOLISHES LINCOLN
On Wednesday the weather finally cooperated for North’s fastpitch team and the Vikings stomped Lincoln 16-0 in a game played on the Viking’s diamond.
“We are starting to hit the ball,” wrote coach Bill Hobaugh in an e-mail.
Lincoln game stats: Pitchers were Jenneke Oostman, Ashley Tobin and Ali Marks. Jordan Jewett had two triple hits, four runs and two RBIs; Tobin had three hits, including a double, three runs and two RBIs; Oostman hade two hits, two runs and two RBIs; Michelle Donahue had two hits and Alisa Hopper had three hits, two runs and an RBI.
The Vikings played Bellarmine at Bellarmine on Friday. Results of the game were not available at presstime.
KHS FASTPITCH HAMMERS PORT TOWNSEND, DEFEATS KLAHOWYA, TAKES LOSS TO NORTH MASON
On Monday the Bucs beat Port Townsend 19-2 in a game played at Kingston’s fields. .
Kendal Peiguss pitched 1.33 innings, Lauren Peiguss pitched 2.67 innings for the win. Hannah Knight was catcher for the complete game. Aubin Duncan had the KHS’s new field first over the fence home run and Andrea Cetnarowski went 4-4.
On Tuesday, also at home Kingston defeated Klahowya 4-3.
This one went into extra innings, and went all the way to the last runner. Both teams picked off the eighth inning runner placed on second as she came home. The Bucs placed a couple good hits with two outs to score the winning run.
On Wednesday the Bucs took its first home loss for the week as North Mason kept Kingston scoreless 4-0.
“This was a good battle, but it went North Mason’s way,” wrote coach Joe Schiel in an e-mail. “Very solid performance by both teams.”
The Bucs traveled to Bremerton on Friday. Results of the game were not available at presstime. On Monday the Bucs return home to play Peninsula at 4 p.m.
KINGSTON ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP
A fundamental skill building basketball camp for girls in grades five through 12 will be held in the Kingston High School gym June 30 through July 3. Every player at this basketball camp will develop; shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense skills in addition to learning the other life lessons of teamwork, dedication, focus and sportsmanship. The camp for students in grades five through eight runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the camp for students in grades nine through 12 will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. The camp costs $90, which includes a basketball for eight grade and under and a t-shirt for ninth through 12 grade participants. A $10 discount is offered for each additional child per registering family. CHISHOLM’S CHALLENGE BASKETBALL CAMPS
The North Kitsap Athletic Boosters Club presents Chisholm’s Challenge 2008 boys and girls basketball camps. The cost is $85 per camper per camp. There are four camps in all with sessions for ninth through 12-graders and fifth through eighth-graders. The camps run June 9-13, June 23-27, July 7-11 and July 21-25. Registration flyers will be available for pick up at the Sport House in Poulsbo or from coach Tony Chisholm at NKHS starting April 7. PARK AND RECREATION GIRLS BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Poulsbo Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a weekday girls basketball league. Girls, grades five through 12 are eligible to participate. The divisions are fifth and sixth-grade, seventh and eighth-grade and ninth and 12-grade. Practices will start as soon as a team forms.
