I’m writing to remind voters that Representative Sherry Appleton has been a tireless booster for Kingston’s Village Green project. During five years that I served the Village Green Foundation, as a Board member, donor, and then Executive Director, Sherry has forged strong working relationships with the House capital budget committee chair and paved the way Kingston’s funding requests. Those efforts included arranging two visits by the Speaker of the House, as well as two visits by Department of Commerce staff. All of those visits and the visibility they have given this vital community project have resulted in the Village Green project now being ranked 12 out of 22 on a statewide “short list” of projects going to the legislature for funding.
My experience working with Sherry has been that her priorities are our priorities. She’s gone beyond responsiveness to our needs and helped us to anticipate the next steps needed to secure some state funding, which would represent a return on our investment of tax dollars over the years. Sherry has earned her seat – let’s keep her working for the good of the community.
