Port Orchard’s Bay Street will be alive with the sights and sounds of summer every Friday night through Labor Day.

In coordination with the first in a planned series of monthly third Friday waterfront art walks in Port Orchard, Bay Street merchant Moondogs, Too opened up its patio stage for the summer, with the Polynesian reggae sounds of Seattle band Little Big Man.

While the next art walk isn’t until June 19, the sounds of summer continue this weekend with blues rock band Soul Siren at Moondogs May 22, and the grizzly growling Tacoma bluesman Steve ‘Loose Gravel’ Luhtala, May 23.

Next week, there’s even more blues with with blues sax from local band Nick in the House May 29, followed by Port Orchard party rock band Z-Rexx and the Ninjas May 30.

Local bands The Herbert Friendly Trio and the Spence Brothers Band are also slated for the Moondogs stage later this summer, along with psychedelic rock from Olympia in late June and for Labor Day Weekend, the return of the Goldy McJohn Experience (former Steppenwolf keyboardist) with Jimi’s little brother Leon Hendrix.

Also in the works for later this summer, Moondogs, Too owner Darryl Baldwin says, is a free, sophisticated Sunday afternoon concert series of classics and jazz, also on the outdoor stage.

All shows are at 8 p.m., 21+, no cover, on the outdoor stage at Moondogs, Too, 714 Bay St. in Port Orchard. Saturdays, Harmonica Dave hosts an all ages open mic at 2 p.m.
