KINGSTON — The announcement of the Spokane being out of service the morning of Oct. 3 marked at least the third time the Edmonds-Kingston ferry route has been down to one vessel since July 30.
The 188-vehicle Spokane was expected to be out “at least through” the morning,” according to Washington State Ferries spokeswoman Marta Coursey.
The Spokane was back in service for the 1:30 p.m. sailing.
“Crews are troubleshooting to find out what went wrong, and will make necessary repairs as soon as possible,” Coursey said.
Between July 30 and Oct. 3, the Edmonds-Kingston route has been down to one vessel for an extended period of time three times due to maintenance issues.
The route was down to one vessel July 30 through the morning of July 31 after the Tacoma lost power on the Seattle-Bainbridge route. A vessel from Edmonds-Kingston was moved south to assist.
Then, on Sept. 1, a fuel spill at the Kingston ferry terminal cancelled 14 sailings.
