After a quiet winter, it only takes a few days of sunny weather to get everyone outdoors and looking for things to do.
You can rent a kayak or two from Olympic Outdoor Center, grab a book from the Dauntless Bookstore, or learn to weave or paint at the Artful Ewe II. Best of all you can come enjoy the shops, food, coffee or walk throughout the town or trails at your own pace.
The month of March starts off with a new opening of the Port Gamble General Store and the Port Gamble Historic Museum on March 5.
The General Store has gone through a transformation with new owners, new layout, expanded food items, hand-dipped milk shakes, old fashioned candy, and spectacular retail items — don’t forget to say hi to Kim and Erik next time you are in the store.
Have you ever wanted grass-fed beef? Well, now you can get beef right here in Port Gamble.
B&B LLC is a small family ranch that will be offering grass fed beef from Port Gamble. Their cattle graze on lush pasture land high above the town of Port Gamble.
B&B are working in cooperation with the Kitsap Conservation District and Pope Resources to manage the land and protect natural resources. This family operated ranch is providing a limited number of natural grass fed beef cattle. This is because of a desire to reduce the impact on the amount of land available for grazing and provide you with a healthy animal.
They expect to harvest these animals in late July 2010 and have natural grass-fed beef ready for pick up in early August.
B&B is currently taking all orders in the form of reservation, as the buyer will get to determine how they want the beef cut and wrapped. Please see their Web site for the reservation form or contact B&B at (808) 772-1751.
Join Best Friend’s Antiques for its fifth anniversary sale on March 6 and 7. All glassware, china and porcelain will be 20 percent off for the weekend.
Who didn’t enjoy the writings of Erma Bombeck? Join us for a wonderful Light Afternoon Tea at the Tea Room at Port Gamble while being entertained with the wit and wisdom from Bombeck’s columns and stories, told by a local storyteller. All of this is happening at 1 p.m. Saturday March 20.
March Murder and Mayhem happens March 27. Enter into the mystery game of “who dunnit,” with a new story line and characters. Will you be the one to solve the murder? The mystery starts at 2 p.m. at the Port Gamble Community Center.
Finally, they are back for another season … the Dirty Dozen Bike Races; contact Kerry Chamberlin at (360) 509-4626 for more information.
