Two days of blustery weather caused trouble for North Kitsap boaters this week.

A man in his 30s tumbled out of a kayak late Sunday morning in choppy water in Hood Canal near Driftwood Key. The man yelled to get the attention of residents on shore, who called for help, according to a North Kitsap Fire and Rescue press release.

Before firefighters could reach the scene, two men used a canoe to reach the kayaker and pull him to shore.

The man was examined by medics but declined treatment. He said waves had swamped his canoe, making it increasingly unstable. He was wearing a lifejacket.

Power went out in parts of Hansville Sunday after a tree fell on wires in the area of Hood Canal Drive.

On Monday a 26-foot power boat carrying two adults from Preston lost power in windy conditions off Kingston’s Apple Tree Point.

A fire boat launched from the Port of Kingston and located the boat at about 3:40 p.m., according to a release. The boat was towed to the Port of Kingston.
