Highway 104 study receives regional funding

The potential realignment of Highway 104 in Kingston is being studied by Kitsap County, and has received funding from the Puget Sound Regional Council.

KINGSTON — The potential realignment of Highway 104 in Kingston is being studied by Kitsap County, and has received funding from the Puget Sound Regional Council.

Folks are encouraged to comment on this and four other regional projects, which the PSRC is recommending to receive nearly $3.4 million in funding from its Rural Town Centers and Corridors Program.

PSRC granted Kingston’s Complete Streets and State Route 104 Corridor Planning Study $250,000.

The 30 day public comment period will run from July 11-Aug. 9. The Transportation Policy Board will review public comment and make a recommendation to the Executive Board on September 12, 2013. To make a comment, mail to Puget Sound Regional Council, ATTN: Jeff Storrar, 1011 Western Avenue, Suite 500, Seattle, Washington 98104-1035; or email tipcomment@psrc.org.

Kitsap County Public Works and its consultant are completing a Feasibility Study to assess whether ferry-bound traffic could be redirected to the north couplet of Highway 104.
