NK shows ‘perseverance’ during SunDome Fest | Volleyball

The North Kitsap Vikings varsity team brought home their share of bragging rights from the Yakima Valley SunDome Volleyball Festival Sept. 14.

YAKIMA — The North Kitsap Vikings varsity team brought home their share of bragging rights from the Yakima Valley SunDome Volleyball Festival Sept. 14.

The team won two games, tied two, and lost one.

The Vikings played in one of eight, four-team pools. The Vikings took second in their pool, and went on to play Eastlake and East Valley in bracket play.

It was “a great experience for the girls,” head coach Tim French wrote to the Herald. “They showed flexibility and perseverance, battling through some injuries.”

The festival does not count toward the team’s Olympic League record.

The Vikings next game is against Port Townsend at home, Monday, Sept. 16, starting at 6:15 p.m. The team travels to Bremerton Sept. 19 to play the Bremerton Knights at 6:15 p.m.

NK tied with Grandview 11-25, 25-19
NK tied with Wenatchee 10-25, 25-17

Bracket play: Eastlake def. NK 25-20, 21-25, 17-15
NK def. East Valley 15-25, 25-21, 15-9
