Irene's presents Studio to Stage performance; new Silverdale Sleep Number location; more.

Irene’s presents Studio to Stage performance

Irene’s School of Dance will present its “Studio to Stage” performance 7 p.m. June 17, 6 p.m. June 18 and 2 p.m. June 19 at the Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center.

The two-hour-long program will offer a variety of dance styles, including ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary, modern and baton. Dancers from age 3 to senior citizens will perform. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and older and kids 12 and under.

New Silverdale Sleep Number location

SILVERDALE — Sleep Number opened a new branch near the Kitsap Mall at 11066 Pacific Crest Place NW, Suite A-170.

At the new location, customers are guided by a “sleep professional” and receive an individualized sleep experience, which helps them understand their sleep needs and find solutions to achieve their best sleep.

Sleep Number was recognized by the Association of Retail Environments with an award for outstanding store design.

Student named to president’s list

Abigail Berry, of Silverdale, was named to the Gonzaga University President’s List for spring 2016. Students must earn a 3.7-4.0 grade-point average to be listed.

Student earns degree from ISU

Michael Johnson, of Silverdale, graduated from Iowa State University with a master’s degree of science, chemical engineering in the spring 2016 commencement ceremony.

Submarine technology displayed at museum

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, submarine technology will be featured at the U.S. Naval Undersea Museum. Step inside a real submarine control room in the submarine technology gallery; this recreated control room from a Cold War-era submarine, the USS Greenling (SSN-614) features equipment from the sub, including periscopes, the ship control panel, fire control panel and ballast control panal.

23rd annual Day of Caring on June 24

From 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, United Way of Kitsap County invites everyone to join in on the annual Day of Caring.

The event will kick off at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion on the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, where volunteers will meet other volunteers, enjoy a continental breakfast, mini-rally and receive T-shirts, bottled water and boxed lunches before heading out to their project sites.

Day of Caring is a great way to lend a hand in the community, providing labor needed to accomplish tasks that aren’t within normal budgets.

Bingo and karaoke at McCloud’s Grill House

Patron Appreciation Day set for Aug. 16

The Downtown Bremerton Friends of the Library is hosting a patron appreciation day from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 612 Fifth St., Bremerton. This event is a thank you to those who use the downtown Bremerton library. Refreshments provided. Books will be for sale in the Book Keep for $5 a bag or half price.

Bremerton Symphony Orchestra auditions set

Bremerton Symphony Orchestra, an all-volunteer orchestra under music direction of Alan Futterman, will hold auditions for the upcoming season on Tuesday, Aug. 23, and Tuesday, Sept. 6. Experienced musicians of all instruments are encouraged to schedule a 10-minute audition time with Personnel Manager Gary Dahl by calling 360-536-2038 or emailing gdahl@bremertonsymphony.org with subject line “BSO Auditions.”

Top 10 for $10 animal adoption event set for June

From noon to 4:30 p.m. throughout June, Kitsap Humane Society is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to have their cat adoption fees for the Top 10 cats at just $10. All cats come with the most up-to-date vaccines, are microchipped and are spayed or neutered. Help KHS save lives and adopt one of their terrific Top 10.

Silverdale Library book sale set for June

The Silverdale Friends of the Library will hold their June monthly book sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, in the Hess room of the library located at 3450 NW Carlton St. in old town Silverdale.

Monday sales will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Mondays of June 6, 13, 20 and 21.

Book sale proceeds go to support different programs and needs for the library and especially for the summer youth reading program.

The library appreciates the community supplying it with their used books, CDs and videos for the sales. Items may be dropped off at the library during regular library hours.

Kitsap Rose Society meets June 13 in Bremerton

The Kitsap Rose Society meets Monday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Fire station #41 at 7600 Old Military Road NE in Bremerton. Guests are always invited to join and participate in the club’s love for roses. Refreshments are free and served after our speakers. The meeting begins with horticulture problems and questions on  insects of roses by Elena Williams followed by Patricia Grimes on Companion plants for roses. Eighth annual Kitsap Wine Festival to be Aug. 13

BREMERTON – The eighth annual Kitsap Wine Festival at Harborside Fountain Park returns with a celebration of food, wine and community Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music, bites from local restaurants and tastings from Washington wineries and breweries set against the breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the Port of Bremerton Marina.

Selections include Browne Family Vineyards, Davenport Cellars, Michael Florentino Cellars and more. While sipping wine or ale, guests will also enjoy food from participating restaurants and local purveyors such as Amy’s Decadent Chocolates, Anthony’s at Sinclair Inlet, Bella Bella Cupcakes, Toro Lounge and others.

Guests will receive a complimentary Kitsap Wine Festival commemorative wine glass and access to an onsite retail shop to purchase select wines.

Ticket proceeds benefit the Harrison Medical Center Foundation and its mission, to support Harrison Medical Center – and their community – by facilitating charitable gifts to support exceptional healthcare.

Kitsap Photography Guild to meet on Thursdays

The Kitsap Photography Guild will hold a meeting 7-9 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Cavalon Place Building, 2011 Myhre Road, Silverdale. The club hosts monthly presentations that are interesting and education, no matter what your level of expertise, beginner to professional. Once a quarter, the club hosts a digital image review/critique night. These sessions are for anyone, from kids to seniors, singles to families.
