PORT ANGELES — Kingston senior Annie Roberts finished a few seconds in front of Interlake’s Annie Davis to take second astat the Salt Creek Invitational, Sept. 21.

Roberts was one of six runners in the cross country invite to finish the 3-mile run in under 19 minutes, with a time of 18 minutes 31.49 seconds.

Interlake’s Nikita Waghani took first in 18:16.64.

The Kingston girls varsity cross country team finished last overall.

The North Kitsap girls varsity team finished second overall. Top North Kitsap runners included Clara Lund and Kathleen Ramsey, who took fourth and fifth, respectively.

Kingston travels to Sequim Sept. 25 to run against Sequim and Klahowya at 4:30 p.m.

The Kingston boys varsity team finished third overall during the Salt Creek Invite.

The fastest Kingston runner during the invite was John Griffin. Griffin finished fifth in 16:00.70, behind three Interlake runners and Ryan Clarke of Port Townsend.

Interlake’s Luke Beauchamp took first in the 3-mile run in 15:45.34.

Other top Kingston runners included Kyle Van Wyck, who took 12th; and Colin Veilleux, finishing 13th. North Kitsap took fifth as a team, with Dutton Polk finishing 11th as the Vikings’ top runner. Polk finished in 16:20.82.
