Steve Bauer is an honorable man. I was saddened to learn he was stepping down from his position as our north end commissioner.

What I appreciated most about his service to Kitsap County was his desire to be fair to all of us. That is hard to do not only when you’re in public service, but in our private lives also.

I consider it a virtue that is lacking more and more in our public officials in this age of division and, as Steve points out, our “loss of civility.”

Our loss is his family’s gain. We wish him well and a thank you.
