As of 2:30 p.m., Puget Sound Energy is reporting via their Twitter account that 1,667 customers in Poulsbo are without power.
Poulsbo City Hall is without power; Poulsbo Fire is reporting the Stottlemeyer and Deer Run neighborhoods are without power; North Kitsap Fire & Rescue responded to a downed tree into a power line at 1:45 p.m., which caused a power outage at the intersection of State Route 307 and Gunderson. Liberty Bay Books reporting power is out in downtown Poulsbo (but the bookstore is still open).
Between 2:30-2:45 p.m., readers on NK Herald’s Facebook page reported the following outages: Foss and Bond Road, 5th Avenue NE, Gala Pines, Kenneth L Salon and Spa on 7th Avenue, Noll Road, and 9th Avenue and Hostmark.
Poulsbo Police Chief Al Townsend says, via his Twitter page, “Significant power outage in north part of Silverdale and most of Poulsbo. Remember when traffic signals are out, treat like a four way stop.”
Reporter Kipp Robertson is reporting power is out at the intersection of State Route 305 and Lincoln, and Lincoln and Caldart. State Route 305 at Bond and Forest Rock Lane still has power. Traffic is backing up because traffic lights are out.
Port of Kingston Manager Kori Henry said the port office lights are flickering, but have not lost power. She said its extremely windy, and measured the wind at 3 p.m. at 28 mph — a strong wind, according to the Beaufort Scale.
MacKenzie McDowell, PSE spokeswoman, said there was a number of outages reported around their service area between 1:45-2 p.m. She said they are not sure what is causing the outages, but crews are currently investigating each outage.
McDowell said they are hearing reports of lightning and wind. There is no estimated time of power restoration yet.
PSE stated to stay clear of all downed lines; assume they’re energized and don’t touch them. People can also call 9-1-1 to report downed power lines.
